Honestly that's one the worst nightmares many of has might have. Sex after marriage and only to your partner is best way to prevent HIV/AIDS.
 But for those who can't resist do it safely dude.

| I would be devastated, but I would feel this way if I was told that I had any fatal disease, so it would not matter what disease it was. I would hope that people would not treat me different , but I am sure that they would. I tyhink I would have to spend part of my last days trying to educate other people about avoiding getting the disease.

It is very devastating, exspecially when if you know you could have prevented it. However, HIV is not the death sentence it once was, and this is part of the reason it is on the rise again.
Now there are many drugs used to help keep AIDS at bay, however you must take then exactly as directed, up to 30 pills a day, and if you miss even a course, then that than remedy will not work anymore. Humans beign what we are, seem to have a hard time sticking the regimen. Also, they medications make you very ill and tired.
As little as 15 years ago, if you were diagnosed with HIV , it was fairly much a death sentence, today, HIV is not always a likely end , however, you have to be vigilant in your healthcare and lifestyle to keep HIV and not progress into AIDS.
What is more important is that, HIV Is on the rise. Partly because, the younger generation does not remeber the horror of the early 1980's. Our younger people are once again back to flippant sexual practices , even to the point that the Bath Houses have actually reopened in the San Fran area. And, currently the population being most effected in this country is Hispanic Women. So, sad an uneeded, however, what more can be done, how much more educating can we do? Why are our young people being so careless? These are the bigger questions.

I have taken the AIDS/HIV test. I was told that they can usually tell within two weeks of being exposed to it. It was nerve racking on the waiting period of the results. I came back negative. I knew I was but wanted to take the test. My husband required a blood transfusion during surgery. I didn't trust the blood supply even after being assured that the supply was tested and proven not tainted.
My uncle contracted Hiv from a patient. He was working as a CNA in Psych Hospital. He was helping give the patient a shot. At the time no one was aware of the patient having the virus. The patient became uncontroble and violent took the needle out and stuck it in my uncle. He has been living with the disease for 19 years now. He takes a regiment of medications. Which I think are more dangerous than the disease at times. Because of all the side affects. But at the same time keeping him alive.
