How can I cure a cold with natural medicine or recipes?

I just got an awful cold. Can you please give me any tips on how to cure without prescription or OTC medicine? I want to cure it in a NATURAL way.

Thanks ;)

Vitamin C…tons and tons…to bowel strength….burn that cold right out of you.
Also eat the hottest foods/sauce you can stand.

Well, if you get vitamin C at least make sure it’s buffered. Zinc is also good and highly recommended for a head cold.

The one thing I have found that I consider to be the first known cure for the common cold is nucleotides, which are popular in Europe. That has always had me back on my feet from even flu in a day.

Camu Camu is a good source of vitamin C. Also try ginger and minty teas.

No cure for the common cold. You can aleviate your symptoms with hot chicken soup, green tea, vitamine C, lots of rest.

Well basically you just have to let it take its course. If you leave it alone and stay optimistic (stress doesn’t help when your sick), I guarentee it will go away in no time. You can however eat oranges – natural vitamin c. Bananas too (natural potassium). Also, cold showers have been proven to have health benefits because they improve circulation and have been said to boost immunity to colds and other illnesses. Or if its too chilly you can start with a warm shower and turn the water cold at the last minute. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water too.

Vitamin C mate …. take a Vitamin C supplement in a powdered form containing bioflavonoids (enhances the power of vitamin C 10 fold) 1,000 mg (1 teaspoon) dissolved in water or juice 3 – 4 times daily………… this will effectively kinghit any cold and drastically reduce your symptoms …….. when you recover maintain your immunity by continuing to take 1 teaspoon full daily dissolved in juice or water …. try it mate, it works ….. vitamin C has been shown to reduce inflammation and speed healing ….. it also has effective antihistamine properties………. if you’re taking lots of aspirin you’re losing vitamin C…….. cut right back on caffeine containing drinks such as coffee and tea and eliminate sodas and soft drinks and pop as they will all dehydrate you terribly and rob you of your precious water soluble supplies of vitamin C……….. drink 8 glasses of water daily and hydrate yourself properly to help your body function at peak levels and eliminate the germs.

Ditch processed sugar as bacteria will literally feed and multiply on it.

Other things that will rob you of your precious supplies of vitamin C are stress, alcohol, aspirin and otc counter cold and flu meds, antiobiotics, sleeping tablets, laxatives and diuretics, the oral contraceptive and eostrogen supplementation (if you are female) and smoking…. processed sugar will also wash out your vitamin C supplies . Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and as such our bodies can neither store or produce it and we need to ingest it on a daily basis.

eat more foods and their juices rich in vitamin C ie ~leafy and green vegies, citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, strawberries, blackberries and red and green peppers etc…

Vitamin C reduces inflammation, stimulates the immune system and restores the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract………. In addition, vitamin C creates an environment in the digestive tract that helps control the overgrowth of yeast, bacteria and parasites.

Vitamin C deficiency can contribut to digestive problems, as well as bleeding gums, blood shot eyes, bloody noses, increased susceptibility to infection, joint pain, unexplained bruising and lack of energy….. hmm, vitamin C the magical potion i reckon………..;0)

    peace baby

In order to cure a cold, or better yet prevent them all together you must give the body what it needs in order to strengthen your immune system. That means a healthy diet consisting of lots of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, and minimally processed foods.

For immediate relief I would suggest Vitamin C (the body can tolerate fairly high doses), herbs such as echinacea, and foods such as garlic (it contains “allicilin” a compound that is released by crushing the garlic clove). When I feel a cold coming on I make sure to eat plenty of garlic; try a slice of toast with olive oil and crushed garlic on top (it’s also great in chicken soup).

Either way if you keep your immune system strong you’ll find you don’t have to worry so much about colds. Other nutrients that are good for the immune system is Vitamins A, B, D, and Zinc (always see a health practitioner for proper dosage).
