there are sugar free. go to a local pharmacy and tell the pharmacist you are diabetic, or whoever needs it is, and they can cope with that and find something for ya!

Yes, go to CVS store and ask for a diabetic cough medicine.

I believe either Robitusin or Tussin has a sugar free cough syrup. Ask the pharmicist they should be able to answer your question. My mother is diabetic and that is the only thing she can use.

over the counter cough meds are a waste of $$$$$$$$! If you have a hacking cough, you are better off getting a prescription from the Dr. for a codeine med. to knock it out!

I’m diabetic and the VA give me cough medicine, but no label. It works. Doctor told me it is Robitusin and you can get it at the drug store. No prescription required (OTC). It is the one for diabetics.

There is brands that carry no sugar in them for people with Diabete’s, One brand is Robutussen, and also ask your Pharmacist next time you go in, and ask him to show you where they are located, useualey they are in the diabetic aisle.

well since your question popped up in the alternative medicine topic, I’m going to give you an answer that is herbal instead of “go to the pharmacy”. There are a few herbs that are used as “cough medicine” one is called Horehound. It kind of tastes like slightly bitter licorice. You can make this into a tea (1tsp herb per 8 oz hot water steep no longer than 5 minutes) add a bit of honey & maybe some lemon to make it more palitable. Other wise you can make an onion syrup, but not sure how willing you wil be to take it. Take a couple of onions, leaving the brown skin on, slice & place in sauce pan, cover with honey & cook on low heat until onion is transluscent & starts to break down. Strain, cool & use. This actually tastes pretty good, my kids will take it & it works like a charm. Good luck!
