Q&A: Is there a listing of alternative medicine doctors or natural paths?
Is there a listing of alternative medicine doctors or natural paths?
I’m trying to search for former doctors who have switched to natural medicine. I’m not sure what they would be called so I don’t know how to search. I live in Northern Virginia. I have ulcerative colitis. Any help will do.

The first thing you want to try is your local state university’s school of medicine. I live in Ohio and found a department that’s called “integrated medicine”, and because the doctor I see is a primary physician, insurance pays for the treatment—Integrated Medicine usually takes the best of natural medicine and conventional medicine. I went there because I had an eczema that didn’t want to go away, along with bad nails and various skin rashes. That doc took my blood and when I got the lab report I was amazed to see 3 pages–she had checked everything, from liver and kidney function to cholesterol, and to sodium in the body–I really was shocked. So give that a try first thing.
If you do not have a state university(or other big university with a medical facility)nearby, you could try holistic or homoepathic. Make sure though, that the ones you find do have a M.D., for that is a medical degree—this way you have a chance of insurance picking up the tab
There is a website called mydoctor.com where you can give in the city, the name or type of doctor you are looking for and hopefully that will help you find what you need.
For myself can I only tell you to try the natural approach first. I’ve done so and my health has improved dramatically—I had a vitamin A overdose and a vitamin B deficiency and of course, I have to pay the vitamins myself, but I rather take vitamins than drugs.
Good luck

If you want a real doctor that switched try researching doctors who lost their licenses due to gross malpractice. If that doesn’t help, then see if you can get a listing of all the fraud convictions in the local court system and try searching for those names on the internet, there are bound to be a few alternative medicine “doctors” in there. If all else fails you could just ask a friend to lie to you once a week and then take a vitamin and flush a hundred bucks down the toilet.

try this new book. It is full of natural remedies; “God’s Medicine Is Best (herbs, vitamins and minerals)” by Linda Wise.
