The Effects and Treatment of Pneumonia

Posted on April 2nd, 2007 in Conditions and Diseases by admin

Pneumonia is one of the most common respiratory illnesses affecting people of all ages. Whether it’s cause is fungal, bacterial, viral, or parasitic, this illness can have devastating effects on the body. Your body strains to breathe properly and the oxygen supply becomes significantly reduced. Most of the time people become bed ridden while suffering from pneumonia, though the severity also depends on the overall health of any given person. Elderly people with pneumonia tend to suffer so badly that hospital care may be required. There is no set time span for how long pneumonia lasts, but will subside much quicker if taken care of properly.

The invasion of viral and bacterial micro organisms in the lungs is the most common cause of pneumonia. When the air sacs of the lungs (known as the alveoli) become infected and inflamed, they flood with a fluid substance. This cuts off oxygen from the blood system and results in severe symptoms such as fever accompanied with chills, coughing up greenish phlegm, chest pains, short breathe, fatigue, and clammy skin. The treatment of pneumonia depends on whether it’s bacterial or viral. Often times it can be difficult to establish what type of pneumonia a person has. Usually antibiotics are administered in both cases, but other types of medicine are used in the case of viral pneumonia. Understandably, many people become weary of relying only on the pharmaceuticals and have used noni juice as a helpful supplement. The anthraquinones in noni juice help reduce the inflammation of lung tissue while at the same time fighting bacterial infections. Although pneumonia should be treated on a case by case basis, drinking noni juice could help speed up the process of recovery.

It is clear that pharmaceutical treatments are always given the first place in line. Often we’re told that pharmaceuticals are the only option. That is simply not true, as people have reported success with using alternatives. They have recovered much faster than normal by going the extra mile and trying natural remedies. This doesn’t mean that you should completely defy medical advice, but it never hurts to research the world of natural remedies and seeing what it has to offer.
