The Benefits of Beverages

As human beings, we have no choice but to continuously drink fluids. Without hydrating ourselves, we would no longer be able to survive, ultimately leading to our demise. Fortuitously, we almost always have an overabundance of beverages at our finger tips, from water to wine, juice, coffee, and tea. Though these all help us stay hydrated, some are more beneficial than others. Regrettably, many can even harm our bodies, if overused. For that reason alone, which beverages should we ultimately stick to?

Despite what many people say, coffee is one of the world’s healthiest beverages. Loaded with antioxidants, coffee can help prevent heart disease, cancer, and other ailments that eventually lead to death. While a cup a day is great for the heart, many do not realize that drinking to excess will only increase the risk of illness. With anything in life, moderation is a necessity. Therefore, it is important to have one cup a day, and if you are looking for additional nutrients, try snacking on vegetables. Green tea is also another booster that the majority of coffee drinkers love.

It is a known fact that some people just can’t stand the taste of coffee. Luckily, for them, there are plenty of other ways to obtain healthy benefits. Water, the one liquid that makes up a large portion of our body, is vital for survival. It not only keeps the body hydrated, but it is known to cleanse the skin and actually replenish areas that are struggling. Even better, water is absolutely calorie free, which is great for people who are trying to watch their weight. However, it is also imperative to make sure you don’t over-drink. Though rare, it is possible to damage your organs if you consume too much water. This can lead to Hyponatremia, which is painful to treat.

Let’s face it, aside from the essential eight cups of water per day, we love a glass of wine before bed. We all know how calming this can be, especially if we have had a rough day at work. While too much alcohol can hurt your organs, heart, and weight it can also strongly benefit your health. Studies have shown that the consumption of red wine can reduce the risk of heart disease, as well as cancer. Some professionals even feel that it extends your life span. Though these claims are most likely true, it is important to not go overboard. Without moderation, you could seriously damage the quality of your life.

With such a diverse selection, it is no wonder why people do not have difficulty finding a beverage that they love. While some people love to indulge themselves with wine and coffee, many don’t even realize that they are helping their bodies. As long as one makes sure that moderation is in clear sight, drinking these liquids will undoubtedly do no harm. In actuality, they may actually expand your life and improve your overall health. Seeing as these drinks are tasty and affordable, who wouldn’t want to consume such healthy treats?
