Sore Throat

Don't let a sore throat ruin your day. noni lozenges for sore throat

Sore throat causes and symptoms:

Most sore throats are caused by a virus and may be part of a cold. But a sore throat also can be the sign of tonsillitis, which means any swelling or redness of the tonsils and may be caused by a virus or a bacteria.

About 10% of sore throats are caused by the streptococcus bacteria which does need treatment with antibiotics because of possible complications of an untreated streptococcus bacteria such as rheumatic fever which can lead to heart damage. Streptococcus
is not always easy to detect by examination, and a culture of the sore throat may be needed. Infections in the nose and sinuses also can cause sore throats, because mucus from the nose drains down into the throat and carries the infection with it.

While bacteria respond to antibiotic treatment, viruses do not. Most viral sore throats accompany flu or colds along with a stuffy, runny nose, sneezing, and generalized aches and pains. These viruses are extremely contagious and can spread very quickly, especially in the winter time. Our body builds antibodies that eventually destroy the virus, a process that can take several weeks.

In the cold winter months, dry heat may create a mild sore throat especially in the mornings. This often responds to humidification of bedroom air and increased liquid intake. Patients with a chronic stuffy nose, causing mouth breathing can also suffer with a dry throat. They need examination and treatment of the nose and sore throat by a physician. We often experience sinus problems especially when it is cold accompanied by a very sore throat. Sometimes we just disregard the signs and symptoms we experience thinking it is only a simple cold. However, simple cold's with a sore throat can develop into a sinus infection over time.

To reduce pain due to a sore throat, many over the counter products are available. A tiny bit
of lemon juice in warm water with a small amount of honey is a great elixir that actually smoothes the sore throat.
We at Natures Products developed a throat lozenges with such valuable ingredients like manuka honey (unique to New Zealand), Propolis, Natural Lemon Oil, Menthol Crystals.
